Hair Trends For Spring 2014 - Mid Length Cut

BEFORE

AFTER

As Spring approaches why not think of something new to try, whether its a lip color you haven't tried, or a NEW hairstyle!

This week my sister came to see me at the salon. Let me tell you this girl RARELY wants to change her hair! Amber's hair has been growing out from a bad cut for YEARS!.. We've been doing extensions on her for a while, and she loves to keep it as long as possible! When Amber came in this week she said she wanted to cut it into more of a mid-length cut (one of the HOT trends for Spring this year!) I was SO excited to do this for her!!

Above are the before and after shots! She only has extensions in the sides now. It suits her so well!

This shorter cut is super cute and a lot of fun to try different styles with. I've been wearing this cut for years now!!

If you have questions on different styles to try with this cut or questions about extensions or anything else.. message me or comment below!

I'm Back!!

Hi Dolls!!

After taking some time off from writing on here, I'm FINALLY back doing what I enjoy and talking about what I LOVE, Fashion and Hair!!

Also another little fashionista I'll be adding on here will be my daughter Paisley. She likes to add some cute 'princess' plastic heels to her super cute Zara outfit, and sometimes she'll accessorize with a tiara too!! (Lord help me!!)

I will also be showing off to you some of my work from the hair salon (Studio 486 in Newport Beach), along with the HOT hair trends for different seasons in 2014!!

FASHION: The Boomerang Effect of the Black and White Trend

It's back again .. The Black and White Trend. First becoming popular in the 1960's, this retro trend never seems to fade out for long.
Making many returns since the 60's it has come back this season, for a new modern take.
Designers such as Marc Jacobs, Chanel, Dolce and Gabbana and Moschino using this trend in their Spring 2013 collections.
What i love about this trend is that there are so many ways to wear it. Here are some of my tips for how to change up the look.
1. Prints- try mixing two different black and white prints, or mix a print with a solid black or white piece of clothing.
2. Masculine- 'Le Smoking Suit', A pant suit or LBD, complimented with a metallic or black shoe, is always chic!
3. 60's Inspired- a mini dress and/or retro print combined with a sexy 60's style hair-do.
4.Add a Splash of Color- Accessorize with your color of choice, in bags, shoes or jewelry. Some of my favorite color to add to a Black and White outfit are: Emerald Green, Blue, aor Red.
5. Feminine- Use lace to create more of a feminine look. I love a peek-a-boo of lace, for example a lace bandeau under a back-less shirt.

Below are some pin boards to achieve that Black and White look at every price!!

BEAUTY: Create Yourself A Bordeaux Lip!

There's nothing more chic and modern than a great red lip. This season with black being so popular, 'The Red Lip' adds that extra bit of glam to your outfit.

Don't over think it! The best Red Lip is accompanied by simple make-up, neutral eyeshadow and black mascara, make your lips the focus.

Here are my steps to create that 'Perfect Red Lip Look':

1. Apply an illuminating primer, followed by a foundation matching your current skin tone (this will help conceal imperfections)

2. Open your eyes with neutral eyeshadows and black mascara.

3. Outline lips with either a red lip-liner or a reverse lip-liner (this will help prevent bleeding into the fine lines around your mouth.)

4. Apply lipstick. If you are looking for just a little shine to make your lips pop just that bit more, add a little clear gloss.

HAIR: Kerastase Expands Their Elixir Line.

A couple of months ago Kerastase expanded their Elixir Ultime product to more than just a leave-in oil, it now also comes in a shampoo and masque form.

Everyone first went crazy for the Elixir leave in oil, some calling it "life changing", due to the silky, soft, shiny results. Now the oil is combined with a shampoo and masque, and people are loving it.

From the scents to the touch, these products are magic. These products can also be combined with the other lines from the Kerastase brand. eg) Chroma Captive, Cristaliste etc.

Keep in mind that when putting the masque and leave-in oil in your hair to not apply directly to the roots, this will help avoid a greasy result.

Remember to purchase any Kerastase products from Exclusive Kerastase salons.

My upcoming Review of Bobbi Brown's 'Buffing Grains For Face'

I love a great exfoliator! I feel so much cleaner and my skin feels and look rejuvenated!

I have come across alot of different exfoliators I have liked for my body but not many for my face.
For my body I prefer a blend of coconut butter and exfoliator beads, but one of my favorites has been the sea salt from The Sanctuary.

I have heard so many great things about The Buffing Grains from Bobbi Brown. Its designed for your face, and you can either mix it with water or favorite Bobbi Brown cleanser and get a 2-in-1 face wash.. What a BEAUTY BONUS (as they call it on the website).

If you have tried this exfoliator or have one of your own that you love and swear by.. Let me know!

Stay tuned for my upcoming review of The Buffing Grains!

A Touch of Color for Summer

Hey Dolls!

So even though its June gloom right now the sunshine will be here before we know it, and keeping up with our Mani-Pedi's this season is crucial! Our hands and feet are on display more than any other time of the year.

So if you are like me and try and consider every one of the hundred colors on the wall when your asked to "pick a color", and then in no time they are ready and you just grab one of the colors you typically go for (for me it's always a dark color, like a deep Purple or rich Brown). Now we are going to get more chances to try out different colors, for me it's all about pastels and brights!

I love pastel color nails with a white outfit!
Adding some bright and neon colors to your nails is great way brighten up any outfit.
Caviar nails are another popular trend this year. I like this look for a night on the town or an event!

Check out some of my favorite nail colors and trends for this season!
